Meeting was called to order by Keith Raines, President

ACBA Christmas Supper will be Monday, Dec. 9th
location will be at Mama Penn’s in Anderson @ 6pm

• If you’ve removed your honey, allow bees to clean spun frames. If you do this by placing
back on hives, make sure to remove them within 24 hours to reduce chances of them
• Make sure you remove excluders so the queen can move up this winter if needed.
• Place excluder under bottom of stored honey supers to deer mice from ruining your wax.
• Keep SHB at bay by using Beetle Blasters, Beetle Jails, Beetle B Gone. If you use
screened bottom boards, implement oil trays.
• Treat for varroa, if you haven’t already. Make sure and use package directions for any
• Preform mite counts before and after treatment on your hives via sugar roll or alcohol wash.
• Keep check on honey stores. The weight of the hive is a good indicator.
October and November Beekeeping Calendar
• Combine week colonies
• Queenless hives should be combined with “queen right” hives
• Replace and or repair equipment
• Close down hive entrances to smallest opening
• Less activity, cold weather sends them into clusters
• Warn days, bees will take cleansing flights and forage for pollen
• Store equipment properly to prevent moth damage
• Feed Feed Feed! when temps allow (45-50 degrees)
• Start thinking about new bees! Reserve your NUCS or packages ASAP
