ACBA February 2016 Meeting

ACBA – Meeting will be held Monday February 8th at the Starr Town Hall at 7:00pm.

Special guest Jack Collins will be addressing the club! Jack will be speaking about getting ready for spring.

Get ready for spring. Breath of spring is blooming, red maples are getting ready to pop!

Don’t forget your bees. You need to pop the lid and check honey stores. Feed as needed.

Our beginners course for 2016 starts on the 9th. We still have a few open seats so spread the word! I need you to start thinking about being a mentor for new class members.

Don’t forget that it is time to pay your late dues for 2015. I am requesting all dues be paid in full by the end of the month. $25.00 covers all your local and state dues.

Meeting agenda will cover

  • Current status of the short course for new beekeepers
  • Jack Collins – Get ready for spring
  • Open forum. Bee talk!!

INSIDE THE HIVE

February – Get ready for spring!

Have new woodenware on order and begin assembling. Paint with 2 coats of exterior latex over primer. Lighter colors in our area of the country will help hives stay cooler during the peak of summer. Make sure you have your feeding plans in place and review your calendar for the upcoming year milestones! Don’t forget there is still time to order bees for this year through our local sources – Joe Kelly, James Ott and Billy Craft. BTW, they have woodenware already painted for those not wanting to build their own.

See you soon.
