will be continued, dates are yet to be determined.
Upcoming Events:
SC Beekeepers Association Summer Conference is still set for
July 23, 24, 25 8am-5pm, Anderson Civic Center
Discussion with Q & A:
Best way to reach high swarms?
Use of a telescoping extension pole with 5 gallon bucket attached is used by many with
good results. It’s not worth the risk of injury to attempt collecting swarms at unrealistic heights.
Has the nectar flow started?
Not in full force yet, blackberry has started to bloom. Tulip Poplar has not yet. Many
have already added supers with good results.
How high should you mount swarm traps?
8-10 ft., but remember safety first!
Check your bee yard daily for swarms.
If you collect swarms and have a weak hive, it may be beneficial to combine those. 1 Strong
hive is better than 2 weak hives.
